The 1st Quarter of 2023 continued to Commonwealth’s return to pre-COVID eviction filings and judgements. At the same time, rents continue to rise, with more than half of all Virginia renters seeing increases. More than a third of renter households experienced an increase of more than $100 per month. While we have begun to move away from the 2019 benchmark, this report now includes the median amounts owed and the percent of tenants represented statewide.
